I need to find my WEP code or passphrase on my wireless?
I just recently got a laptop and I also have two desktops at home. I own a Linksys wireless router that I wanted to connect my laptop to. I press 'Connect to a Network' on the small icon and it's asking me for a code or passphrase. I bought a Zipit (a small computer-like thing that you can send Instant Messages from) and it said it needed a WEP code; I assume these are the same things. I did call Linksys before and got the code (but of course I lost it) but I was on the phone for about 40 minutes. If you could help me & save me a phone call that would be great!
You can access your router's configuration GUI by typing its IP address in your browser's address bar from a PC that's connected to the router. To get the router's IP address, open up your local area connection status (double-click the network icon in the taskbar), click the "support" tab, and look for "Default Gateway". This is your router's IP address (usually will be 192.168.xxx.xxx).
Once you get in to the GUI, click around a little (usually there will be a security link, or something similar). You'll be able to find your key there.
