how do I change the data transfer rate on my router and what is ethernet switc speed and how to change it?

I asked alot of questions on here and on forums about how when I connect my pc directly to the modem the speed is 15 mbps which is what my isp provides but when i use a router it drops to about 3 mbps. most people told me i need to change my routers data transfer rate settings. is that the ethernet switch speed thing? my routers box sais it has 10/100/1000mbps 4 port switch speed. what do i do to change this if it needs to be changed at all? the model router is linksys WRT310Nv2.
I have 15mbps speed and modem provided from my isp.
I even went to the IP address thing to change my routers settings but there are no data transfer rate options anywhere. also a manual did not come with this only installation instructions and FAQ.
