For All You Server Administrators Out There.?
I have a Dell PowerEdge 2600 server. This is a decommissioned server that has no memory. I've tried many different PC2100 DIMM DDR 266MHz (in pairs) ranging from 2x256 to 2x512. None of them seem to work.
Does anyone know if Dell needs specific RAM to work? I've been doing some searching and it seems that Kensington makes Dell-specific RAM, but is there really a difference?
Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Yes, it does take a specific type of RAM. It has to be "Registered • ECC" RAM. You don't have to get it from DELL though.....try here: http://www.crucial.com/store/mpartspecs.aspx?mtbpoid=8218D16EA5CA7304
You can try elswhere too...just be sure it's "Registered" and "ECC".
