Looking into a 2003 Mazda 6s. Recall for fan control module...?
It looks like a great car, at a reasonable price. The only red flag on the Carfax is that it has a recall for a "fan control module"... What is that, and should it prevent me from purchasing this car? This was found 4/2007, so I assume the previous owner took care of it. What do I need to know or ask?
BTW, 2003, automatic, less than 90000 miles on it, asking $8,700. From the carfax, it appears that it has been well taken care of by 2 previous owners... Good deal?
There wasn't a formal recall, according to NHTSA; however, Mazda issued a Technical Service Bulletin regarding this issue. Apparently only a certain range of VINs was affected.
Ask your nearest Mazda dealer to check it over. It's a pretty easy fix; I don't think I'd consider it a dealbreaker on this car.
