If i have an omni directional antenna connected to a wireless router with a range of 2 mile radius then within the antenna's range can i connect my laptop with in-built wifi to the router without using another AP?
If possible then which routers and antennas recommended. If not possible then please describe why.

2 square miles would be a 1 mile radius (maybe a little more to reach the corners). Regardless, even 1 mile is way too far for Wi-Fi. Even if you generate a signal strong enough to go a mile, the users would need better transmitters in their computers to reach the central antenna. To properly do what you're trying to do you need some industrial strength equipment and plenty of AP's. Some of the newer wireless companies are offering Wi-Max which is better suited for large coverage areas.
