Yes and No. Any 2.5 sata hard drive will work in any laptop as long as you have the right pin adapter and bracket. Say you buy a (bare) 320GB HDD to replace you old 160GB HDD, on your old hard drive there is a bracket held on with 4 screws that you need to put on the new drive. Also where the hard drive actually connects to the laptop is a removable connector that must be put on the new drive also, it just pulls right off and slips right on the new drive. If you don't have discs, make them now. Go to start>>>all programs>>>system recovery>>>PC recovery disc creator. You will need 2 or 3 DVD-R discs for this. Now the No part. You cant just install Windows Vista from say a Dell in a HP without problems. If you can isolate just the Vista operating system without any of the brand specific junk that is common to most laptops then yes it can be done, but unless your an advanced user with knowledge of how to do a custom install, then no you can't.
