What does it mean when a t mobile voice mail says the voicemail has not been set up yet when you know it has?
I tried calling my friend who has had the same number for years and her voice mail always states her phone number if she doesn't answer. We talk almost daily and today when I was calling her, it doesn't even ring and a message comes on stating "I'm sorry, but the person you called has a voice mail box that hasn't been set up yet."
Does anyone have t mobile that can explain why that is happening? I'm getting worried about her.

It sounds like her voice mailbox has been reset for some reason. When a new subscriber joins T-Mobile, their voice mail has to be set up with some kind of message, and the subscriber has to create a PIN number and such.
It's possible that a technical problem has caused voice mail to respond this way; it's also possible (although it seems unlikely) that she's discontinued service, or changed her number, but even then, the voice mail would generally remain active for a time.
You can contact T-Mobile at 1-800-937-8997 and let them know about the problem. They won't legally be allowed to confirm whether or not she has done this herself, but if there's a problem on their end, they should be able to tell you that. My guess IS that it's a T-Mobile problem, but it wouldn't hurt to call just to be on the safe side.
In the meantime - is there anyone who lives near your friend that you could contact who could check on her, if you're to that level of concern? Hopefully it's nothing, and most likely it's a T-Mobile glitch, but if you feel uneasy, it's certainly not a bad idea to check.
