how do i build a budget video conference from home?
I want to create a home video conference (VC) to talk with my family while im in afghanistan. I have a Hp Slimline 7600n pc. It is old and doesn't have a s-video port. The tower is so compact there is not really any room for expansion. I can dedicate the pc to the VC. I want to leave the PC in the living room near the TV i want to use as the monitor. I have the web cam and the system is preloaded with xp, but i have access to windows 7. I know how to operate ubuntu very well also. What would be my best path to making this work?

And adater of 3.5mm stereo to RCA compentent stereo is also cheap.
As for a software, skype on any of the OS's you mention should work just fine.
