Should Comcast have supplied me with a wireless router?
I am in Colorado & called up Comcast to request a connection to the phone line as I have just moved into my new apartment.
They came over and installed a ghastly looking modem that says "Arris" on the side which is connected to the telephone line, cable wall outlet and the power outlet.
Should they have supplied me with the wireless router? The company that I was with in the UK did...
So anyways at the end of it all, I have a phone line but no internet (I have to request internet service from them & then they will connect the modem directly to my laptop)
This is not what I want though, I want wireless throughout my house. What should I ask comcast for?

You can request a wireless router and usually they will supply one for you. However normally there is monthly rental fee. Where I am at, it is $10 a month for the router. You can buy one at Wal-Mart for about $40. So unless you plan to use the router for under 4 months, it is cheaper to just buy your own then to rent theirs.
Most ISPs do NOT automatically supply their customers with wireless because it allows them to have multiple PCs on the one connection, which of course uses more bandwidth, slows Comcast's network, cost them more to run it, but they do not get paid extra for the additional PCs. So they do not normally give you that for free.
