Can I actually use a wireless router box as a "splitter" for ethernet dsl cable ?
If my Verizon dsl box has only one "out" for ethernet cable to computer, can I run that cable to the "in" of a wireless router box, then run ethernet cables out to different computers? May sound riciculous, but a box from Verizon with multiple "outs" is another one hundred dollars. We already have a wireless box that we do not use. Thankyou
Typically the modem (verizon DSL box that you are referring to) only comes with 1 ethernet wire port to connect 1 computer to. What your looking for is a router. You then connect the modem ethernet to the router "in" and the router will typically have 4 "outs" that you can connect 4 computers to for the internet and you can even get a wireless router that will have 4 "outs" and a nearly unlimited number of computers that you can connect to the internet over the wireless.
Summary: yes a wireless router connected to your modem will allow you connect multiple computers to the internet all at once.
