Electric scooter controller CT-660B9, motor always on?
I've received a free scooter, and I'm slowly realizing why it was free. It was going in the dumpster at a local scooter store when I rescued it. It was missing a battery, so I added a temporary one of the right voltage (although rather dead), and mapped the wiring. With all of the connections correct, I hooked up the battery, and the motor turned on full speed. It did not respond at all to throttle, although I've confirmed that the throttle is outputting the correct voltages. This was before I'd turned on the ignition to the controller (the controller didn't have power). Everything on the scooter runs through this controller, it has inputs and outputs for motor, battery, throttle, brake, turn signals, horn, and dashboard readout.
This sounds like a short to me, but I don't know how that would happen, as the entire controller circuitry is frozen in resin. Has anyone else had this problem?
Well, if you're truly a nurd (I thought that was "nerd"??) this could be an interesting project for you.
Rather than a short circuit, probably what has happened is that one of the components in the control module has failed, and, being permanently encased, you can't identify and replace it, so why don't you make up another one? Ask a few questions in the Consumer Electronics section, or hit Google and/or your local library.
