I need help building a Double Bi Quad antenna for Wifi.?
Im confused by all the different designs. Shielded, unshielded, lip, no lip. The unshielded has the element soldered directly to the N connector. The shielded design shows the element soldered to coax cable which is crimped to a copper pipe. It shows an N connector at the end of the cable but Im confused as too if it is built into the cable or if it is separate like the one I have. Its hard to explain. Also Im not sure what type of pigtail I need. I have a Netgear WG311 v3 PCI adapter. I have looked at all the websites online and they all have crappy directions or I just cant tell because Im a noob.
You may want to check the ARRL site for information. (That is the Amateur Radio Relay League) they have designs and good information. http://www.arrl.org
The center connection at the antenna will connect on one side to the shield and on the other side to the center conductor. Here is one with a good shot of the center connect.

There are several other designs that are on

Most of these will help you understand antenna basics.
What connector you put on the end opposite the antenna is up to you. You can match it to your adapter if the coax is not too heavy, otherwise you want to use a pigtail to reach the last few inches so that the strain on the adapter connector is not too high for the card. Most of these little short pigtails will go from N female to TNC or RSMA etc to match your adapter card. If you have a long run of coax from the card to the antenna you need to use LMR400 (heavy but low loss) and then add a pigtail.
You might also check around and see if you can find a local Ham Radio Operator that might help.. usually they understand antennas very well.
