help with my ethernet desktop switch?!?
yesterday i got a netgear 5 port 10/100 mbps desktop switch.i hooked it up to my arris cable router and it worked fine on my desktop. the next day i thought i try it with my laptop and my pc at the same time. however, one computer will allways just recive a local signal and the other will recive local and internet. i have tried the diagnose and repair thing in vista but it never got it to work. please help.

Are you sure the arris is a router and not just a modem? If it is a router what do you need the switch for, routers will have multiple ethernet ports built into them already.
More likely it sounds like your arris cable box is just a modem and the modem will only give a internet connection to one computer at a time. The router has a built in DHCP server that a switch does not have that is why a router can share a internet connection with multiple computers and a switch or hub can not.
