Ps3 having trouble conecting to router?
i have a linkyses wireless router. my ps3 can not connect to it while in the basement, but when brought closer to the router it can. however, the signal strength while downstairs is very high, like 97 %. why is the router not connecting correctly? i used to have a xbox 360 in the same downstairs place and it worked fine. the model of the router is a b series. i talked to the linkseys customer support and he said that the model is too old to connect to the ps3, but im not sure if u trust him. i have not moved anything in my house since having the the xbox, so i cant see why the ps3 is not connecting. ill give points for a thourough answer.
PS3s are notoriously picky about which wireless routers they'll connect to. The customer service rep you talked to is probably right. I have a D-Link DI-523 and my PS3 usually connects to it just fine. Right now my router's starting to go bad so I have problems from time to time.
A friend of mine who is the network manager at the community college here got so fed up with wireless and the PS3 that he ran a cable to his PS3. Let me reiterate that for you: The network manager for a college, a professional at dealing with networks, decided dealing with PS3's wireless wasn't worth the effort and ran cable.
