how can i hook up my computer to my hdtv?
my computer has:
usb, serial out and vga.
my hdtv has component (5 plug and 3 plug) and hdmi.
and i dont want to spend a hundred dollars on some fancy converter. will a vga to 5 plug component cord work, or will there be problems becase vga is analog and component is digital? any help is greatly appreciated, thanks!
i realize that i wont be able to get sound transfered easily, but im fine just using my computer's speakers.
the audio component is by far the easiest to move. just use a 1/8" stereo mini plug to left/right rca audio cable plugging the 1/8" stereo plug into the speaker out on the sound card. use a headphone splitter if you want the audio to go to the computer speakers and the tv.
for the video,the easiest option would be to buy a new video card with hdmi out and with some shopping they are readily available for under a hundred dollars. once installed,enable multiple displays on your computer(start/control panel/display) and you should be in business
