I need to setup a long range (0.5KM) wireless network to cover the gardens of my property and to reach to some of the out buildings.
I already have a router setup with my internet connection, and need a long range outdoor wireless antenna which can connect to an ethernet port and broadcast the internet outside.

Also i have seen on the internet RJ-45 to Coaxial adapters, all of the wifi antenna which i have seen have a Coaxial adapter, so im assuming that i can just hook the antenna to the adapter and it would work? or have i got this all wrong.
First, you are going to need to find out what is allowable where you are in the world. In the United States, the FCC has laws on how far you can transmit a signal in the 2.4GHz and 5.0GHz range. If you are outside the US (I'm guessing you are from using the Metric system) you are going to need to know what is allowed for long range signals. This is a calculation that is comprised of the signal strength of the radio, cable loss (from the radio to the antenna) and then the antenna gain.
Most home wireless routers have fixed strength and antennas to keep under this limit, but if you are changing the antenna type, this changes the gain, and could lead to a violation.
The antennas need to connect to the radio you are using, most wireless routers have fixed antennas which you cannot replace for the reasons above.
The RJ-45 Ethernet ports do not lead to the radios, it goes to the built-in router so you would have to buy a whole new device to connect into the Ethernet on the router.
You could plug in an Access Point or Wireless Bridge into the port, but they would need to have removable antennas or built-in high-gain antennas.
The antennas that you would need would depend on how focused the beam you would want. Most likely a high-gain omnidirectional antenna would work best. Yagi and dish antennas are more for point to point connections.
Any external antenna needs to be protected from lightning strikes or you will fry everything in your house.
