Is a "outlet box" necessary for networking?
I'm going to be doing some cat6 wiring in my house. I will be running 4 cat6 cables from my router to the different rooms. My question is, is it necessary to get these gang boxes or outlet boxes to put into the opening and then put the wall plate over it? Or is the wall plate enough? Here's a link to what I'm talking about It's the 4th picture, the blue outlet box.

By code, all wiring must be in a box. They are easy to install, just a drywall saw, stud finder
and screwdriver. I think you can use the "remodel" or "old" wiring box because it doesn;t
need to be on a stud.
