anyone help me with my wireless lan?
i have a wireless lan , it says ieee 802.11 on it. i know my router is working. i have installed it with the disk, but the icon indicates no detected adapter. when i unplug or plug in the adapter , iget a triple tone instead of the normal two tone usb indicator. ive tried re-installing it , is just the same. it wont go through the normal found new hardware wizard. also, when i double click the wlan utilitiy icon in my system tray, a configuration window is supposed to pop up , which it doesnt. one problem could be that i remember once , plugging it in without knowing there was a disk. how do i make the comp find the new hardware?. it has no brand on it so i cant find a troubleshoot site. i know it is not broken because my friend has used it successfully. plz help
go to the device manager, wireless card (it's either under network adapters or USB controller), double click on it. in the new window select Tab Driver and click on the button uninstall. then reboot the pc - you should now see the message "new hardware detected". follow the instructions on screen.
