Laptop on a domain, desktop on workgroup. Can I connect using a wireless network?
I have a desktop pc connected to a router with ethernet and onto a broadband modem. The desktop is running Vista and is a workgroup setting.
I have a laptop using XP that has a domain (wifes busniess laptop)
Can I still connect between the computers to view files?
As far as I can see because the laptop is domain it won't let me view files. I can't view files from laptop to desktop either?
Any ideas.
Without a domain login you will not be able to view its' files. And remeber this may actually be illegal (they use domains to prevent outsiders seeing them) and in most cases could carry an instant dismissal with a data protection warning on her future employment record penalty if your wife allowed you to see the files. Most companies I support have this. You should be able to see the files on the workgroup from the domain machine, there is far less security on this.
