1394 firewire 4-6 pin cables?
I have a external hard disk that nees to be plugged into my computers 4-pin 1394 firewire port. The hard drive came with
special 4/6 pin cable connector thats suppose to fit into the 4-pin 1394 firewire port, but I am having problems attaching it.
Know I do know that a cable with 6-pin 1394 firewire ports attached to a 6 pin cable is suppost to power attached devices, however from what I understand 4 pin 1394 ports do not power attached devices.
I really need this hard drive to work and only have a 4 pin to work with. Should I be able to make it work with the special adaptor, or should I consider attaching the hard drive to a bus-powered hub?
Audrey, Could you please add a website that states that using a self powered hub in this case, can solve my problem. I need the site, so I can include it to my notes.

i would go with what you said, attatch it to a bus powered hub
you may have to spend a lil extra $$
