what is the most efficiant way to wire a duel battery system?
i have a 2000 watt inverter i need to run it powers a small air compresser.it will only run while the truck is running and for short periods of time i use it to fill tires as part of my moble oil change biz.question is do i need a bigger altenator or a duel battery system.and how to wire it correctly.all of this is in a 91 chevy suburban 3/4 ton has 97 vortech 350 ,a/c,the works.wired to the instuctions im only getting 77volts on 120 side.my guage shows 13 to 16 amps while truck is running
Well, I would say the easiest way would be to mount another bater at the front end of the engine compartment opposite from the side the one you have now is. This should be easy as some of those came with dual batteries. Honestly, you should use a gasoline powered air compressor. But if you intend of having that kind of drain on the charging system, you should get a heavy duty alternator.
Remember, when you hook up the batteries, don't daisy chain them. Hook it up + to + and - to -. if you hook it up + to -, then you will make your 2 batteries run as a 24 volt system, then you will have alot of repairs on your hands very quickly.
