How do I remove and replace a Simplex Prestige front derailleur and cable?
There is a metal anti fray cap on the cable as it exits the front derailleur.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Thanks. When removing the chain, is it easier to take the chain off using a chain tool instead of trying to remove & replace that nut inside of the front derailer cage with the chain in the cage?
Thanks to all for your help. The is installed and shifting fine. I could use help in adjusting the derailleur cage. It rubs against the length of the chain after I shift to the large chainring, but does not rub against the chain when on the small chainring.

Just clip the endcap off. Install the new cable and allow about 2" of excess and trim the rest off. Install a new endcap.
You don't need to remove the chain on that derailleur... simply remove the screw at the bottom edge of the chain cage, slide the chain out, and you're done. It isn't any easier to remove the chain unless you have 10 thumbs.
EDIT: As long as you still have the 5 speed rear, follow the adjustment procedure I gave you before. Thats as goos as it gets for Simplex stuff.
