Does Microsoft offer any discount pricing plan when you install redundant servers?
My hardware guys are telling me we have to buy two full-priced operating systems (Windows 2003 Enterprise at $2400 each), one for each server. Certainly you get a break on the second one when you are configuring your system for redundant servers.
The only people who get discounts are schools and non-profits. Schools pay full price for 2003 Enterprise but we get our CALs for $5 a piece.
If you're just making a redundant server why not invest in a RAID controller?
