Can I Install Windows Xp On To My Slave Drive Without...?
I have a Dell Dimension 5150 That uses a Sata drive but mine went out so I'm using the standard ide but through my cd rom drive because my computer doesn't support ide. But I currently can't boot from cdrom because of that. So how could I install windows onto my slave so I can turn it into my master?
Sounds like you're using an older IDE hard drive, but you have it hooked to the CD ROM IDE cable?
You can do a couple of things: Make sure you have an IDE cable with 3 connectors (one to the motherboard, and 2 to connect devices). Set both the hard drive and CD ROM to Cable Select (CS) using the jumpers and diagram on the drive. Both devices should then work.
Long term, but a new SATA hard drive. They're $50 or so for a decent one, and a lot faster. Look for a Western Digital drive at Newegg.com or slickdeals.net
